The Consul General of France hosted the opening Reception of Rendez-Vous à Roland-Garros in partnership with Longines. The reception, produced and catered by Thierry Isambert Culinary and Event design, kicked off the 4 day tournament and also showcased the 125 year-long history of Roland Garros.
Rendez-vous A Roland Garros is a new venture with Longines, the USTA and the French Tennis Federation. The tournament was hosted at the Boca West Country Club and was open by invitation only to the top American U-18 players.
The newly laid red clay courts at the Boca West Country Club give the young players valuable experience on the most demanding surface in pro tennis. Roland Garros is famous for its red clay courts, one of the oldest and most noble surfaces in the history of tennis. Winners go to Paris for a play-off against winners of similar tournaments in India, Brazil, China, Japan and South Korea.
The iconic Roland-Garros trophies, the Coupe des Mousquetaires and the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen, were on display at the residence and this was the first time they had been in the USA.
The event was attended by representatives of Roland Garros, the FFT, the USTA, Longines, and the tournament participants. Tennis star-on-the-rise, Christina McHale, was a guest of honor.
